Several companies in the southern region of Norway (Sørlandet) have become global actors in various segments of the photovoltaic (PV) market based on technology, competence, and market knowledge. These segments include raw materials, components, technology, and other related products where the regional industry has proven to be highly competitive.
Some of these companies have international owners and must be “the best in class”. Others are spin-offs from existing industry aiming at new applications, new technology, or new markets, and utilize existing competence to pursue these areas.
In order to profile the region, the City of Kristiansand made an initiative back in 2011 to promote the region within the area of Energy & Technology, with a special focus on renewable energy. The aim of this was twofold; both to present the companies and competence in the region, and to increase the attractiveness for highly skilled employees by presenting the variety of interesting work fields found here.
The Solar Energy Conference has been made possible by the support of a wide group of industrial partners, research organisations, companies and public bodies: Elkem Solar, Metallkraft, Agder Energi, JBU Renewable Energy, Teknova, The University of Agder, Agderforskning, the City of Kristiansand,VRI Agder, Vest-Agder Fylkeskommune, Aust-Agder Fylkeskommune, Sørlandets Kompetansefond, Innovasjon Norge, Sparebanken Pluss. The Solar conferences have also been part of the European Solar Days in association with Norsk Solenergiforening.
We gratefully acknowledge all our speakers that have contributed with their expertise and knowledge at previous conferences. Presentations and programs from previous conferences may be accessed through the Previous conferences Previous conferences page.
A few photos from successful previous conferences show distinguished keynote speaker Dr Larry Kazmerski, students with their poster presentation, and a PV installation test rig made by Kvadraturen Skolesenter.
